John J. Donoghue

Drums, Percussion & Vocals

John came from non -musical family. However, he fell under the spell of his bohemian aunt, a classically trained pianist. She preferred to work at local bars and clubs where she would play jazz and blues, and have a glass of whisky sitting on top of the piano.

Raised on Rock ’n’ Roll and Jazz in the 1950’s, John was frequently in trouble for tapping out rhythms at the dinner table, if he was going to play anything it was going to be the drums.

Over the years, there has been time spent in a couple of Alt. Country bands, which mean that varying influences are brought to the music, whatever he’s playing. However, he feels that he is most comfortable in a jazz and blues setting.

For him, A.M.O. is more than just an outlet for his love of Jazz and Blues. They are a kind of family with a high degree of connectivity between Alan, Charlotte and himself. He believes that the band is always evolving and changing and on that basis the future looks very exciting.
